刘超,男,1972年出生,天津人,中国科学院国家天文台研究员,空间站望远镜科学应用研究团组首席科学家。2008年获得中国科学院研究生部博士学位。2009年至2011年在德国马克斯普朗克天文研究所从事博士后研究。2011年入职国家天文台工作至今。主要从事银河系结构、星族演化和恒星物理等方面的观测研究。研究成果发表于国际知名期刊,总计160余篇,总引用10400多次。
